Well our Washington team left this morning and I already miss them. The barbecue was wonderful. The community came out from all over and had a good time. Many people appreciated the food and the fellowship that the youth and adults had. It was in the high 90's and still the people came. Not once did the youth complain about anything. They played with the kids and talked to the adults and had fun. They had hola-hoops and I thought Allen was going to fall down. Yes he tried it and even put it around his neck and it was a sight to see. There was chalk drawing on the sidewalk with the kids, and even water balloons. I got soaked and got everyone else around me soaked. There was chicken hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans everything you needed to have a good time at a barbecue.
Also, they gave away bags of groceries to anyone who wanted food and believe me there was not a bag of food left. Little kids was giving us hugs for just being there. What we found out was that the night we had the barbecue was the same night that the city had an even all over town called "Stop the shooting" The people of the city is really trying to get their city back. Maybe not the government but the people want peace and life. The MP's even stopped and had a little something.
Well I would like to say to a new friend Roberta that she and the team did an awesome thing here and I hope they come back. God Bless you all.
My nephews went home today and I am a little sad because I miss them. It was nice having family here for a while. They did a lot and were changed also. I love you guys.
Until next time...Lots of Love .. from Allen and Dovie

Those are GREAT pics!!!! It was such a hurried event, trying to keep the burgers, hot dogs and BBQ chicken flowing so the 'never-ending' line wasn't held up.
Roughly guageing by the meat we cooked, we easily served upwards of 450 - 500 people. How exciting it was to have two military police hummers stop, and even four police officers stopped by and had some lemonade. Families flocked in, cars pulled up for a plate of food, neighborhood construction workers sent crews over for a plate of hot delicious food.
God allowed me to pray with a mom who was waiting in her car with her kids - while her husband got a couple plates of food. The Holy Spirit was truly there and moving and restoring the hope in that sprawling neighborhood on Franklin Ave.
Maybe all we did this week was hang a few walls of insulation, slap down some shingles, paint the interior of one very small home; pick up a few blocks of strewn garbage, and mow just 4-5 overgrown lawns (for homes that may or may not ever be lived in again), but the neighborhood noticed. As we canvased the neighborhood inviting people to the church BBQ, we also asked if we could pray for them. Eagerily they said yes. We got to pray for a lot of people; even invited in to pray for a 6-day old baby. One young man even noticed the circled team praying on the sidewalk, that he chased them down and asked to pray with him.
They saw the love. Maybe grasped a little more hope, and maybe, just maybe....felt a little more 'home' instead of 'hopeless in a forgotten wasteland'.
Our little group of 23 came home different people. Ready to act, willing to love, wanting to return.
Thank you "His Hands 2 Go" for allowing us to help, exposing us to the need and encouraging us to let God change our hearts for living our ministry everyday.
We love you!
